What angered me about Fosters comments was at no point did he consider that he might be in any way responsible for his failure.

Perhaps next time he might not sideline players that disagree with his approach.

Agree with the rest though, especially as we’re about to appoint a sporting director who might not align with muslic is about. It’s a shitshow alright

Foster was a megalomaniac, perhaps stemming from inexperience? From a footballing perspective, there was a logic at least. Everything since feels reactive and emotional.

The board seem to have thought Foster's version of 'attacking' football would be a direct continuation of Schueyball. It wasn't and he needed to go. Personally I'm happy to accept that league one is our level. I'd like us to play possession based attacking football that offers some entertainment even when we lose. I fear appointing music is almost as big a mis-step as appointing Foster. Why are they so anti hiring someone experienced in the division? That's what we did when we hired Lowe.

I have on authority that the Muslic hire was an acceptance that we will always struggle to play possession football against the stars of the Championship, but we could be "annoying" counterattackers. Personally, I prefer possession football but I like winning games. Brentford, Forest, and Bournemouth are all doing well with "direct" styles contrary to budget. Whether that was the same thought process with Foster, I'm not sure. But also, as in the piece, how does that "underdog" style work when you're trying to win League One?

I guess the underdog style works in league one if you're prepared to be Gareth Ainsworth. Time wasting from minute one, wrestling and hoofing, pressurising referees, relying on set pieces and brute force. Schumacher allowed us to occupy the moral high ground and it hurts to let that go. Dave Smith and Derek managed to be direct combined with genuine finesse and flair. Recruiting today's Tynan, Matthews, Fox, Carey etc is the next challenge.

I think it’s important to remember the, dressing room, unrest during the Foster era. That said we simply haven’t got a Championship standard squad. No strength in depth. Combine this with the injuries and it’s a recipe for disaster. We will be rightly relegated because we are the weakest squad in the league. We may have just avoided it if Muslic, and the current squad, been here at the start of the season. 🤷‍♂️💚
