At 3pm on Saturday, Argyle will officially be back in the Championship after 13 years.
I’m not sure if anyone else is a bag of nerves, but I’m a mixture of excitement and downright scared.
Are we good enough? Is the 4-3-3 solid enough? Do we have enough cover? Are we set to be outclassed?
Looking on Twitter, I think many feel the same anxieties.
But all we can do, is what we always do. Just support. Those questions are for Dewsnip and Schumacher.
I’d toyed with teardowns of predicted tables, or analysis of our wages and squad values for a post ahead of the season opener. What’s the point?
Some teams in this league have immense riches, and parachute payments that total more than our club could ever amass. Some have players valued at three times our entire squad. If the league was decided on these things, we’d be already down.
We have a young squad and the best young manager in the EFL. A top-class data team. The Green Army home and away.
We have Mumba’s last minute top bins against Ipswich. Callum Wright’s diving header at Shrewsbury. The spirit of Peter Hartley. We’re club that never lay down, and never gave up. 101 points in League One when no-one gave us a chance. How can you put a value on that?
So ahead of today’s I just put together a mood board of the highs and lows on our way to this game.
This season will undoubtedly add a few more. Hopefully, more highs than lows. Enough to stay up. Enough to look further?
Perhaps come 5.30pm today we’ll have a better idea.
